The Next Stop

Brief:
Degree Show
Motion

Towards the end of my degree, the opportunity came up for me and other students in my year to manage, theme and design our Degree Show. I, along with my friends Megan, Sophie and Rachel, teamed up to form ‘The Next Stop’, a theme based on the trains tracks that ran alongside our design building at the university, while also signifying our move into the next stages of our lives.

Our pitch won the vote among the rest of the year and we got to manage the project. From our collective ideas, including references to the tube map, Megan crafted the main branding and a custom typeface, while I animated everything with a constant sense of movement behind it. In additon to this, I captured footage of the development and work that went into the show to create a behind-the-scenes ‘making of’ film to document our journey.

Within the exhibition space, I utilised the three large monitors we had moved into the room to hide away all the existing furniture, by placing them together and by using both my old Mac mini and my Apple TV, I was able to create a panoramic effect to show off all of our university projects. With a lot of testing and tweaking, I managed to create an After Effects template that could be easily changed, and with the help of Michael from my Motion & Web team, we edited 55 examples between us.
